The Advancement Corporation
The Advancement Corporation (TAC), a grassroots organization focused on addressing the root causes of poverty and systemic injustice for marginalized communities. It is an outgrowth of the Poor People’s Campaign started by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Our friends and neighbors face too many gaps when they try to help themselves overcome the challenges of poverty and systemic racism. Our mission is to fill those gaps to give individuals the opportunity to live the life they want.

A new community Center on Lansing’s north side designed to bring nonprofits, community groups, and opportunities to the people of Lansing.
Equity in education, ensuring every child receives a high-quality, well-funded, diverse public education.
We help people pursue trades and careers that will allow individuals to develop their talents and find fulfilling work.

Healthcare is a universal human need. We give individuals the resources to take control of their health
Provide housing for local low to middle income families that is safe, affordable, and attractive.
Organizing individuals around critical issues that impact our community. We connect with leaders to ensure that our voices are heard and our needs are met
We work with policy makers at all levels of government to build an agenda and enact change that reflects equity and social justice.
Building a sustainable food system through urban farming to ensure that everyone in our community has access to fresh, healthy food.

We’re excited! Advancement Corporation acquired Otto Middle School in 2021 with the purpose of transforming the building into a community center that will benefit all Lansing residents.
